Meaning brief

What the word peptide can tell you

Start with the name on the offer. “Peptide” is too broad a word to explain the whole treatment.

The U.S. status described here is dated September 2026.

The word describes what it is made of

A peptide is made of small chemical parts joined in a short row. Insulin is one example.

There is no U.S. legal category called “peptide therapy.” A product’s status depends on what it is and how it is prepared and offered.

Sort the product before the claim

The name is the starting point

  1. Drug name

    What ingredient is being offered?

  2. Product

Is this an approved product or a custom preparation?

  3. Purpose

What problem is the person prescribing trying to treat?

For example, semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) has approved U.S. products for specific health uses. That tells you about those products, not about every item advertised under the same ingredient name.

Custom-made is a useful term to know

To compound is to prepare medicine to order, a task carried out by a doctor or pharmacist. This may be an option when a ready-made medicine cannot meet that patient’s need.

FDA is the Food and Drug Administration. A custom preparation lacks FDA approval even if its ingredient also appears in an approved drug. FDA has not checked that preparation’s safety, benefit or quality before it reaches patients.

Ask for the full product name

If the answer is just “a recovery peptide,” ask for the name again. It gives you something concrete to discuss and look up.
